Pencil Drawing #4: Selfie

    Watch out Kim Kardashian, my selfie game is stronger than yours.

   You know what’s insanely hard to draw? Your own face. It’s something I’ve been postponing since…forever. It’s a moment to look at all the details and acknowledge your flaws. “I wish I could draw it differently and make me look better” – NO.

   A moment to accept my insanely huge and curvy nose (but somehow the tip looks upward. It’s impossible to make this nose on The Sims).  Also accepting the short chin (which makes the nose look even bigger). Dentists say that my mouth didn’t grow and that everything they used to do their job was kid’s size. But the teeth and tongue grew to a normal rate. That gave me 8+ years of braces, -4 teeth, and I STILL have take all 4 wisdom teeth out.

   I’m very happy with the result of my “selfie”. It DOES look like me. The hair was a nightmare though, I still have to study a bit more about hair. I’m glad with the way I did the shading (lighter area in the middle). I used a layer of 4B in the whole right part of the hair. Marked down the lighter area, applied one more layer of 4B in both darker areas (top and bottom) and another layer of 6B on the same areas. Then followed with the hair texture itself with HB and 2B. Finished with some eraser strokes coming from the lighter to darker areas. The face and the left side of hair were very simple, average stuff.

   Sabe o que é insanamente difícil de desenhar? Sua cara. É uma coisa que eu tenho empurrado com a barriga desde…sempre. É um oportunidade de olhar todos os detalhes e ficar ciente dos seus defeitos. “Queria desenhar tal coisa diferente e ficar mais bonita”. – NÃO.

   Momento de aceitar meu nariz increvelmente grande e torto (mas a ponta é enpinada. É impossível fazer esse nariz no The Sims). Também aceitar o queixinho curto (que deixa o nariz maior ainda). Todos os dentistas que fui falaram que minha boca não cresceu e que tudo que eles usavam pra fazer o trabalho era de criança. Mas os dentes e língua cresceram normalmente. O resultado foi o uso de aparelhos por mais de 8 anos, -4dentes, e eu AINDA tenho que tirar os 4 dentes do juízo.

   Estou muito feliz com o resultado da minha “selfie”. O desenho REALMENTE se parece comigo. Mas o cabelo foi um pesadelo. Eu ainda tenho que estudar um pouquinho mais sobre esse tópico. Fiquei feliz com o sombreamento (parte mais clara no meio). Usei uma camada de 4B em toda a parte direita do cabelo. Marquei qual seria a parte mais clara. Mais uma camada de 4B nas partes mais “escuras” (topo da cabeça e parte de baixo do cabelo) e depois uma camada de 6B nessas mesmas partes. Aí veio a textura do cabelo em si, feita com HB e 2B. Finalizei com umas passadas rápidas de borracha da parte mais clara em direção às partes mais escuras. A parte esquerda e o rosto foram bem simples, nenhuma novidade.
